Abstract

This essay is personal and institutional commemoration of Professor A.J.R. (John) Groom, founding father of the World International Studies Committee. He was at the forefront of international cooperation and institution building, provided the impetus behind some of the most influential international studies journals, and was an authority on IR theory, functionalism, conflcit analysis and resolution, and international organisations. This essay expands on these and other contributions, as well as lauding Professor Groom’s legacy.
