Abstract

The optical tailoring of laser operation in azo-doped cholesteric liquid crystal laser is achieved by use of a reversible isomerization process. We find that the azo-doped system can be treated as a single effective homogeneous cholesteric liquid crystal system. Some applications are also introduced.
