Tetra-ethyl-ammonium dichlorido[N,N′-(o-phenyl-ene)bis-(isoquinoline- 2-carboxamidato)-⁴ N]cobaltate(III)

In the title compound, (C8H20N)[Co(C26H16N4O2)Cl2], the four N atoms of the N,N′-(o-phenyl-ene)bis-(isoquinoline-2-carboxamidate) (biqb^2-) ligand form the equatorial plane of a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment around the Co^III ion, while two chloride ligands are axially coordinated. The Co - Namide distances are significantly shorter than the Co - Npyrid-yl distances. The dihedral angle between the two isoquinoline fused-ring systems is 25.72 (7)°. The crystal structure is stabilized, in part, by inter-molecular Ccation - H⋯Cl and Cisoquinoline - H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.
