Abstract
A study was performed on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) of small molecules from silver-coated silicon nanopores. The most favorable SERS enhancement was achieved using a nanoporous substrate that provided a large surface area for the adsorption of target molecules. It was shown that increasing the porosity of the porous silicon layer increased the surface area, however, the mechanical stability of the layer was compromised.
