Abstract
The production of highly charged C60q+ with q≤5 via a sequential mechanism was studied. It was found that the ions produced by this mechanism are very highly vibrationally excited, indicating a strong competition between further ionization and coupling of excitation energy to vibrational degrees of freedom.
