Abstract

High peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is a serious problem in multicarrier modulation systems. Over the past few decades, numerous techniques for PAPR reduction of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system have been introduced. However, existing techniques cannot be directly applied to filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-OQAM) system. In this paper, selected data utilization (SDU) technique for the PAPR reduction of FBMC-OQAM signals is presented. Simulation results validate the proposed SDU technique can achieve about 3 dB improvement at complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) of 10-3.
