Abstract
A great deal of information exists on the fire resistance of regular strength concrete. Very little information however is available regarding the fire resistance of high strength concrete. This paper examines reinforced high strength concrete column fire test research conducted by the Canadian Portland Cement Association at the National Research Council over the last seven years. The paper examines the effect of concrete strength, relative humidity, load intensity and structural design in determining the fire resistance of high strength concrete. The information provided will serve as a basis for establishing future specifications governing the fire resistance of high strength concrete.
