Abstract

The Self-powered Imbibing Microfluidic Pump by Liquid Encapsulation (SIMPLE) is disposable, autonomous, easy to use and fabricate, robust and cost efficient, as a solution for self-powered microfluidic POC devices. In this work we upgrade the pump functionality by demonstrating the strategies of flow-rate programing. We present a simple strategy of programming the flow rate by changing the shape of the wicking paper. In addition, we present the possibility of integration of several pumps and their subsequent activation in order to perform sequential analytical steps on a disposable chip.
