Abstract

A power control structure for accommodating various service applications is proposed and evaluated. This structure is suggested in order to cope with different types of mixed traffic for multimedia services. The required minimum power levels are derived for using them as power control thresholds. Also, the effect of the power control errors on channel quality and capacity are investigated. The results show that high bit rate services and lower bit error rate services can cause significant effect on the qualities of other types of traffic. Therefore, strict power control should be performed to adjust the transmit power levels of mobile stations.
