Perception difference between developer and user on functions of smart plugs

Abstract

In order to suggest the proper development direction for the smart plug, which is receiving attention as an innovative product of the IoT technology, this research was to understand the difference between the perception of the developer and the user on various functions on the smart plug. To do so, a survey was conducted targeting developers and prospective users, on the functions of smart plugs derived from the preceding research, and the result was compared and analyzed. The result showed that developers are focusing more on the needs of the most representative and basic functions while the users are focusing more on the needs of the various applied functions of the smart plug. Also, as both groups showed the divergence in opinions on where the put higher values on for the detail functions of the 'Functions of the smart plug mobile application', the necessity of more intense understanding of the user was proved. This research result is expected to help providing the development direction of the smart plug in the future.
