Parents' and special education professionals' support needs on special education support center for the physical and multiple disabilities

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate support needs on special education support center for the physical and multiple disabilities based on experiences and perceptions for those who are related to students with physical and multiple disabilities. Method: Individual in-depth interviews were conducted with three parents and two special education teachers. Focus group interviews (FGI) were conducted with six experts, three elementary special education teachers, and three junior high school special education teachers. All collected data were analyzed using a constant comparative method. Results: A total of four main topics including instruction·parenting difficulties, helpful support, support needs, expectations for special education support center for the physical and multiple disabilities, and 19 sub-topics were derived. Conclusion: Based on the results, implications and future directions were provided to prepare effective management plan for special education support center for the physical and multiple disabilities.
