Abstract

The efficient oxygenation of alkylbenzenes is initiated by photoinduced electron transfer from alkylbenzenes to the singlet excited state of 10-methylacridinium ion under visible light irradiation, followed by the deprotonation of alkylbenzene radical cations and the facile addition of oxygen to the deprotonated radicals, leading to the final oxygenated products.
