Abstract

We report on the nonlinear optical processes in photonic bandgap structures. A femtosecond as well as picosecond nonlinear optical measurement performed to investigate a 3rd order nonlinear optical response. In an opalline 3-D photonic crystal filled with nematics, the electric field induced bandgap change is also examined.
