Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Hallo- hallo-! A ruthenium(II) complex (1) with the flavin analogue alloxazine (H 2allo) has revealed that the ligand anion (Hallo-) forms a four-membered chelate ring. This unprecedented coordination mode of Hallo allows it to form hydrogen bonds with a complementary receptor (e.g. 2), allowing the effects of hydrogen bonding on the redox behavior and electronic structure of a ruthenium-bound Hallo radical to be studied.
