Mitigating supply chain risk by information technology usage

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of information technology implementation on supply chain risk. It focuses on how e-business technology adoption affects supply chain risk. This study utilized a survey methodology by collecting responses from supply and purchasing managers. The research results provide empirical evidence that the use of information technology in the supply chain mitigates supply chain risk. More importantly, e-business technology adoption involves three aspects: inbound and outbound communications, internal communications and administration and mitigates supply chain risks. This research emphasizes the importance of IT implementation in supply chain risk management. It also points out how ebusiness technology adoption facilitates the impact of information technology in risk mitigation of the supply chain.
