Abstract

The controversy on the phase transition in the two-dimensional irrationally frustrated XY (IFXY) model was resolved by adopting the idea of the intrinsic finite-size effects. For this purpose, the exact irrational number up to the machine precision was used. Following this, Monte Carlo (MC) simulations with improved entropic sampling [11] were used to compute the specific heat. Overall, the obtained data provide strong evidence for the intrinsic finite-size effects.
