Abstract

Experimental results for the integral alignment of Na(3p) in resonant charge transfer collisions with Na+ for collision energies in the range 90 to 2500 eV are presented. Among the three possible configurations 3pσ, 3pπ+ and 3pπ- the 3pσ turns out to be most efficient for the charge transfer process at all investigated energies. At 90 eV its relative cross section is ~50% and decreases to ~33% at higher energies.
