Abstract

An overview of the research program, aimed at developing fire resistance design guidelines for high-strength concrete (HSC) columns, is outlined. A comparison is made of the fire resistance performance of an HSC column with that of a normal-strength concrete (NSC) column. The various factors that influence the structural behavior of HSC columns under fire conditions are discussed. Design guidelines are presented for mitigating spalling and enhancing fire endurance of HSC columns.
