Abstract

A four-channel optical photoreceiver array is realized in a standard 0.18μm CMOS technology for parallel optical interconnect applications. Each channel includes a conventional inverter-type transimpedance amplifier (TIA) with a number of inductive bandwidth enhancement techniques. Each single-channel TIA demonstrates the transimpedance gain of 58dBω, the -3dB bandwidth of 9.7GHz for 0.25pF photodiode capacitance, the average noise current spectral density of 10 pA / √Hz , and 13mW power dissipation from a single 1.8V supply.
