Abstract

A long-lived charge-separated state of fullerene-trinitrofluorenone linked dyad (C60-TNF) is formed in the presence of Sc(OTf)3 via intramolecular electron transfer from the singlet excited state of fullerene to TNF and binding of Sc3+ to the resulting TNF radical anion. The lifetime of the charge-separated state is determined as 23 ms in PhCN at 298 K. Copyright The Electrochemical Society.
