Abstract

The significance of the redox state of cytochrome c (cyt c) and the existence of heme-nitrosylated cyt c (NOc) during apoptosis is still under dabate and doubt. Hence, we monitored the apoptosis induced by apoptogens for intrinsic and extrinsic pathways. Using plasmon resonance energy transfer (PRET)-based nanospectroscopy, we observed differential modifications of cyt c in these two pathways.
