Abstract

The clear impression of 4K MicroLED with higher HDR and 8K QLED and OLED were compared through a subjective image quality evaluation. Four variables; edge, contrast, lightness, and chroma was rendering for the HDR display to compare with high resolution(8K) displays. Display with HDR had the most impact and contrast and chroma were attributes that effected the clear impression. The measurement values were used to prove the phenomenon in which MicroLED, an HDR display, gives a clearer impression compared to other displays. HDR having high contrast can be seen more clearly than high resolution. Clear impression does not unconditionally represent the entire integrated image quality, but HDR plays an important role in enhancing image quality. This paper explains why we are seeing clearer images on a higher contrast display than on a higher resolution display.
