An optimality proof of the Interval Caching in multimedia systems

Abstract

Interval Caching is one of the representative cache replacement algorithms in multimedia systems but there has been no theoretical analysis of it. This paper provides an optimality proof of the Interval Caching. Specifically, we propose a caching performance model for media streaming systems and then show the optimality of the Interval Caching under this model.
