Abstract

The study suggested using the liquefied natural gas directly to steam methane reforming process and compared the proposed system with the natural gas steam methane reforming process. To analyze the effect of the proposed system, a simulation model was constructed using MATLAB and Cantera thermodynamic tool, and the balance of plants were composed of a dimensionless model. It was confirmed that it can reduce the consumed work of the system, so it was confirmed that the efficiency of the system can be improved. When the system operating pressure increases, the consumed work of hydrogen compressor decreases, but the system efficiency decreases by reducing produced hydrogen. In addition, it was confirmed that the amount of greenhouse gas emissions of liquefied natural gas system is smaller than that of natural gas system.
