Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to enhance the understanding of art therapy as a part of physical therapy and provide exploratory data by revealing the meaning of art therapy internship experiences of graduate students majoring in art therapy for adults with physical and multiple disabilities. Method: In this study, six master's students who experienced art therapy internships with adults with physical disabilities were selected as participants, and data were collected through two in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed according to six steps of qualitative analysis. Results: As a result of this study, 'experiencing trial and error due to inconsistency between art therapy theory and field practice,' 'confirming the presence of art therapy in the client's life,' 'catching the pulse of art therapy for adults with physical and multiple disabilities,' 'art is comfortable as a bridge for sincere communication with client,' 'becoming a customized art therapist,' 'focusing on what you can do without being overwhelmed by the disability,' 'recognizing the importance of an integrated approach between specialized knowledge and acquired knowledge' were derived as seven essential topics and 21 sub-topics. Conclusion: This study provided empirical data of art therapy internships for adults with physical and multiple disabilities of master's students in the art therapy major.
