Abstract

Acridinium ion forms a π-complex with a free-base bisporphyrin through π-π interaction in benzonitrile. Photoinduced electron transfer from a cofacial bisporphyrin to acridinium ion in a πcomplex formed between a cofacial bisporphyrin and acridinium ion results in formation of the persistent electron-transfer state at low temperature.
